Garvey comes from a family rooted in the pursuit of justice. His grandfather left law school after one year to work extra jobs and support his family, and that sacrifice is what first inspired Garvey to the law.
Garvey is an attorney at Rencher Law Group, where he represents injured clients and their families and works to make them whole again. Before joining the firm, he represented individuals and families facing mesothelioma at an asbestos litigation firm, handling cases in court and staying close to clients through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Earlier in his career, Garvey was a Deputy District Attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, where he worked in the Consumer, Environmental and Special Protections Unit. He also served as an attorney in the Oakland City Attorney’s Office, bringing affirmative litigation on behalf of Oakland residents.
Garvey earned his Juris Doctor from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), where he was President of the Black Law Students Association, President of the Health and Wellness Committee, a member of the Hastings Trial Team, and Senior Acquisitions Editor of the Hastings Environmental Law Journal. He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Jon B. Streeter of the California Court of Appeal, First District. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Ethnic Studies from Santa Clara University.
Garvey has spent his career on the side of people who need someone in their corner, and he brings that same commitment to every client at Rencher Law Group, P.C.
